ASSISTID Welcome Event

Location: Daughters of Charity, St Josephs Centre, Clonsilla, Dublin

Date: 21 September 2015

Category: Events Published: 09 February 2016

The first cohort of new ASSISTID Fellows, their supervisors and staff from the Daughters of Charity Disability Support Service were welcomed by Sr Zoe Killeen, Director of RESPECT, Professor Brian Harvey, DOCTRID's Director of Research and Dr Sheeona Gorman, ASSISTID Programmes Manager.

Attendees were informed of the unique position which ASSISTID fills in disability research. To date there is very little investment in ID or ASD research, and in particular in Assistive Technologies (AT). ASSISTID researchers will tackle the grand challenges around AT-including evidence based research, usability, affordability and sustainability.
